Neumann M150

Neumann M150

Very Popular with studio classical recording, this single pattern omni microphone has well liked characteristics for instrumental music.  Typically, this microphone is used in a Decca Tree (3 mics in a triangle above the conductor) during film score studio recording, as well as the M49.  The vintage M50 predecessor has been and remains exclusively used in film score recording to this day, along with the M49 and other Neumann microphones. Check out Abbey Road Studios, Air Linhurst, or the Newman Scoring Stage for more info on film score recording with this microphone.

Also this microphone is tube-powered, so look for a small box with a yellow light not too far away.  Although today engineers use solid state transformers, people still enjoy the sound vacuum tube give to the sound of music. This box also needs standard AC power.
